SaltX and SMA Mineral enter partnership with Celsa Armeringsstål
– plans for climate-neutral lime production in the northern Norwegian town of Mo i Rana.
SMA Mineral supports the Algoland research project, together with Cementa, amongst others. One of the aims of the project is to bind carbon dioxide from the lime and cement industry’s flue gasses to algae that can then be used as fodder, raw materials for chemicals, biofuel etc.
Algoland is a large-scale project that combines marine environmental research with industrial expertise to come up with innovative and sustainable solutions that reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and nutrient salts – while at the same time producing valuable products. The project is set to continue until 2019.
