Lime products are an effective tool for reducing the negative environmental impact from surrounding areas.
Lakes and other watercourses affected by acidification are treated with lime to restore natural pH levels and prevent acidification damage to plant and animal life. For the same reason, our agricultural lands are enriched with lime to balance acidic fallout. Lime also improves soil structure and the land’s ability to absorb nutrients.
Additionally, water treatment plants use lime to adjust water hardness and minimize the risk of harmful substances in drinking water. Finally, combined heat and power plants and industries use lime products to purify flue gases.
