SMA Mineral - A world full of lime

Loukolampi leads the way

In autumn 2024, SMA Mineral began developing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for the products at its Loukolampi plant in Finland — a project successfully completed during the summer. Work is now continuing at the company’s other Finnish sites – an initiative that comes at just the right time.

The completed project marks an important milestone in SMA Mineral’s broader efforts to increase transparency regarding the climate impact of its products and to meet growing demands from both the market and authorities. The declarations were published in June in Finland’s national database Rakennustieto, where they are also available in English.

“We’re delighted that Loukolampi is the first site to have completed and verified EPDs. Customer interest has clearly increased over the past year, so the timing couldn’t have been better,” says Annika Niiranen, HSEQ Manager in Finland.

Next step: Röyttä and Kalkkimaa
The EPD work now continues at SMA Mineral’s other Finnish plants. In September, a new project was launched covering products from Röyttä and Kalkkimaa, scheduled for completion by the end of March 2026.

Once these declarations are finalized, all SMA Mineral’s Finnish products will have their own verified EPDs – an important step toward an even more transparent and sustainable operation.
