Mo i Rana
The lime kiln at Mo i Rana in Norway was built in 1974 to supply AS Norsk Jernverk with lime for its steel production. In the 1980s, the kiln was rebuilt so it could be fuelled with carbon monoxide and was acquired by SMA Mineral in 1999. The limestone comes from Tromsdalen in Verdal. In 1990, dolomite production also started using dolomite rock from Seljeli dolomite quarry about sixty kilometres south of Mo i Rana.
