Luleå lime works has Sweden’s northernmost lime kiln and comprises a Maerz shaft furnace, built in 1980. SMA Mineral purchased the lime works in 2014 from SSAB. The lime works is located in the SSAB industrial area, and SSAB is also the main customer. The plant produces quicklime principally for the steel and mining industries.
