Sandarne lime works is located around 10 kilometres outside Söderhamn, Sweden. SMA acquired the plant from Stora Cell in 1995, when the lime works was part of the pulp mill’s production line until it closed. SMA Mineral’s operations at Sandarne started in summer 1996 and have the Group’s only lime kiln.
Beside the reburnt lime sludge, other lime for the paper and pulp industry is also received at the plant’s own port, allowing lime quantities to be tailored based on customer needs before bulk supplies go back out to the pulp and paper industry.
